SEO is a key pillar in the digital marketing world and helps to increase your online visibility by making sure your website is at the top of the search results when people are searching for the products and services you offer. With more and more websites competing with yours and the rise of AI-generated content, standing out has never been harder.
This is where I come in, I’m a passionate freelance SEO consultant and it’s my job to make your website as visible in the search results as possible. I’ve been working in the digital marketing space for over 6 years and focussing on SEO for 5 years at various agencies and I have worked on numerous personal projects before taking the plunge into the world of freelance. My SEO Services
I provide a range of SEO services, whether that’s working together on a one-off project like a website migration or creating an SEO strategy for you to execute, to a full retainer service with ongoing support each month to improve your website performance.
Local SEO is all about getting you noticed online in your area. This is usually the realm of physical businesses such as gyms, restaurants and attractions where you want to attract a local audience rather than a UK-wide or global audience.
I provide a wide range of SEO audits designed to see what your site is lacking and where it can be improved to further increase visibility. These tend to be either technical SEO or content audits but we also perform link audits and can review your website design from a search point of view.
An SEO strategy forms one of the foundation layers of any SEO project and without a strategy, you’re just executing different tactics and hoping to see increases. My SEO strategies are designed from the ground up and are completely bespoke to your website and business needs. I’m not here to help you rank better for a handful of keywords or other vanity metrics, I’m here to drive increased conversions and revenue for your business through search.
Having spent many years agency side I know the impact a poor migration can have on a business. With so many moving parts to a website migration it can quickly go wrong and without an SEO on your side to ensure this goes smoothly you might end up with a fancy new website that no one can find.
I support both agencies and other freelancers with white-label SEO support. For agencies, this is usually to plug a skills gap within their team or as staff move on and recruitment begins. For freelancers, it’s usually about supporting each other and working within our skill sets so we can all win bigger projects.
While one of the least common types of projects, international SEO can be a great way for your business to expand, especially for eCommerce sites and manufacturers. International SEO is never a small undertaking and it can be tricky to get right but with an experienced SEO specialist on your side you can take on the world.
Why work with me?
I’ve been working in SEO for over 5 years and this has been agency rather than in-house. This has allowed me to work with a whole range of clients from B2B businesses in niche areas to large B2C companies serving thousands of customers. It’s also allowed me to get involved with all the various areas of search including website migrations, international SEO and local search which I wouldn’t have had the chance to do in-house. My main passion is technical SEO and SEO strategies however I’m happy to get stuck in and create content where there are resource gaps.
I think that every business is unique, even in the same industry, and therefore I take a personalised approach to SEO that fits your business. Some clients much prefer to write their own copy with a supporting content brief whereas others are too busy and would rather it sit with me. During our discovery call and kick-off, conversations I’ll learn how you like to work as an individual and tailor my support directly to your needs.
Transparency and reporting and two things I strongly believe every successful partnership needs. Without it, things are doomed to fail and progress will be slow. This is why I’ll always be 100% transparent with you and put my own interests aside. This means you can be confident in my recommendations and trust that I’m putting your interests first. A real-world example of this might be that search isn’t a good fit for your business and you’d be better off with social media or email marketing. In this case, I would recommend other freelancers in my network rather than trying to make it work. I also won’t use complicated industry jargon to try and bamboozle you into thinking I'm some kind of SEO wizard, I’ll explain things clearly and match these to your business KPIs so we’re always speaking the same language. If search is something you’re interested in then I’d be more than happy to go for a drink and get into the nitty gritty of search.
Reporting is also extremely important and without you don’t know whether you’re getting value for money. When working with me you’ll have a customised monthly Looker Studio report which pulls in data from Google Analytics, Google Search Console, position tracking and other sources. This will give you a comprehensive but digestible breakdown of what activities have taken place as well as how things are performing month on month and year on year. I also offer regular monthly meetings to run through the reports, get your feedback on how things are going and ensure we’re aligned.
To begin with I’ll start with a free discovery call to learn more about you, your business, your goals and how I can help you achieve those through search. This helps me to understand your sector, your position within your sector and whether search is the best channel for you. If it turns out there are other channels more suited to help your business succeed I’ll happily refer you to someone in my network of freelancers, including SWOT social media, Uncommon Sense (CRM & email specialists), Pick Up Digital (PPC specialists) or Kreative Freedom (graphic design).
Once we decide that search is the way forward it’s then down to me to start my research and start pulling together a strategy. This normally encompasses keyword research, competitor reviews, content gap analysis and keyword gap analysis. Once this has been completed I’ll then move on to turning these insights into an SEO strategy.
Once the strategy has been signed off it’s typically up to me to start implementing this strategy, unless you’ve decided to take this in-house (which is totally ok!). Depending on the internal resources you have available I will either provide the outputs myself, which can include content, basic web development and implementing the tactics or I can work alongside your in-house resources such as copywriters, developers and other staff members. If you want to save costs by using your in-house team as much as possible I’m more than happy to help with just the project management side of things.
Review and Refine
SEO is a constantly evolving area with Google pushing out core updates alongside spam and helpful content updates. What’s working to drive traffic and conversions today might not work as well in 6 months' time. It’s my job to keep on top of what’s happening in the industry and make sure that your SEO strategy is aligned with this. This means there might be tweaks needed to the strategy as we go but I will always keep you informed and if changes are needed I will always fully explain the reason why we’re changing the strategy.
