SEO Audit Services

SEO Audit Services for Suffolk and UK Businesses

Hi, I'm Chay, a freelance SEO specialist based in Suffolk. My SEO audit services give you a proper review of your website by someone who does this for a living, and a clear explanation of what's holding it back in search. You come away knowing what needs fixing and where to start, which a free automated scan can't tell you.

You might be here because your organic traffic has stalled or dropped and you can't work out why. Maybe you've been handed a long list of fixes and have no idea which ones matter, or you're about to put more budget into SEO and want to know where you stand before you commit.

I work with small and medium businesses across Suffolk and the rest of the UK, and with in-house marketers who want a second opinion or someone to dig into the technical side. Audits are one part of my wider SEO services.

Why Work With Me on Your SEO Audit

I offer three types of audit: technical SEO audits, content audits and link audits. Most sites benefit from all three, but if you already know where the problem sits, I can focus there. Technical SEO is my main passion, so if you're after a technical SEO audit service, you're in the right place.

An audit can be a one-off piece of work or the start of something bigger. The findings often feed into an SEO strategy, a website migration, or local or international SEO work, and some clients ask me to carry on with monthly support afterwards. If that's you, you'll get a custom Looker Studio report and a monthly meeting to run through how things are going. There are no long-term contracts.

I've been in digital marketing since 2017 and an SEO specialist since 2019, all of it in small, fast-paced agencies before I went freelance. That's meant working with everyone from niche B2B businesses to large B2C companies serving thousands of customers, including on international SEO campaigns. You can read more about me and how I got into SEO if you're curious.

I'll explain what I find in plain English. I won't use jargon to bamboozle you, and I'll tie each finding back to what it means for your business. A useful audit should also make it obvious what to fix first, because a raw list of errors doesn't help anyone make a decision.

I also carry out SEO audits on a white-label basis for agencies and other freelancers, whether that's to plug a skills gap, cover staff turnover or help with a migration or rebuild. If you run paid search alongside organic, I offer PPC audits for Google Ads accounts too.

Every project starts with a free discovery call about your goals, budget and timeframes. If it turns out search isn't the right channel for you, I'll say so and point you towards someone in my network who's a better fit.

What an SEO Audit Covers

An SEO audit is a review of your website that checks how search engines find, understand and rank it. It covers technical health such as crawling, indexing, speed and mobile usability, your on-page content, your backlink profile and how you compare with competitors, then shows what to fix.

Technical SEO

Google has to crawl a page and add it to its index before it can rank, and plenty can get in the way:

  • Crawlability, including robots.txt rules and internal links that stop search engines reaching your pages
  • Indexation, including noindex tags, canonicals and duplicate pages
  • Redirects, redirect chains and broken pages
  • Site speed and Core Web Vitals, Google's measures of loading, responsiveness and visual stability
  • Mobile usability

With redirects, context matters: plenty are perfectly harmless, but long chains or loops can get in the way of crawling, and part of my job is telling the two apart.

On-Page and Content

Here I check whether your pages target the right keywords, along with page titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal linking and content quality. A page can be technically sound and still struggle if it answers a different question from the one searchers are asking, which SEOs call search intent. Thin or overlapping pages that compete with each other get picked up here too.

Backlinks and Link Risk

A link audit looks at who links to your site, how relevant and trustworthy those sites are, and whether any links could cause problems. Paid or manipulative links are the main risk. If there are bad links worth dealing with, Google's advice on disavowing links is to try getting them removed first and to keep the disavow tool as a last resort.

Competitor Analysis

I'll look at who you're competing with in search, where they're winning visibility and where the gaps are, such as keywords they rank for that you don't or content you're missing.

Where Free Tools and ChatGPT Fit

Free checkers and AI tools are good at quickly listing obvious issues like missing alt text, duplicate titles or slow pages, but they can't judge which of them matter for your business. ChatGPT can't crawl your whole site or see your Search Console and analytics data without plumbing it in, so it can't tell whether your pages are indexed or your traffic has really dropped. A specialist audit weighs each issue against your goals, budget and market, and explains why it matters.

How an SEO Audit Works

It starts with the free discovery call, where I'll ask about your business, what you want from search and what's prompted the audit. From there I carry out the audit, then take you through what I found so you understand what each issue means and why it's there.

What happens next is your call. You can work through the findings yourself, hand them to your developer or an existing agency, or ask me to help put them in place through ongoing SEO support.

A lot of the sites I audit run on WordPress, and if that's you, my WordPress SEO service covers the platform-specific fixes in more depth.

If your tracking can't be trusted, it's hard to tell whether the fixes are working. I offer GA4 audits and reporting as well, so the numbers you judge the work on are accurate.

I keep plans flexible, because Google's core updates, seasonality and market changes can turn a low priority from the audit into an urgent one. If that happens, I'll explain what's changed and why.

If you've got questions before booking, drop me a message and I'll get back to you within 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Does an SEO Audit Cost?

It depends on the size of your site and what you need looked at, so every audit is priced to the project. My website health audits are quoted as one-off fixed projects rather than a subscription, so you'll know the full cost before any work starts.

What Does a Technical SEO Audit Involve?

A technical SEO audit checks whether search engines can reach, read and store your pages. I look at crawlability, including robots.txt rules and internal links, indexation and noindex tags, redirects and broken pages, site speed and Core Web Vitals, and how the site works on mobile.

Can ChatGPT or a Free Tool Do an SEO Audit?

An automated tool or ChatGPT can flag common issues, but it can't see your whole site, your Search Console data or your business goals. A specialist audit checks what's really happening and explains which issues matter for you, so you don't spend time on fixes that make no difference.

How Do You Do an SEO Audit?

I start with a free discovery call to understand your business, your goals and what's prompted the audit. I then review your site's technical health, content, backlinks and competitors, and explain what I've found in plain English so you know what needs fixing and can decide who does it.
